Congratulations to Jim Pankey for his wonderful memories to accompany this adorable old pickup truck, also shared by him:
I remember the old days when grandpa gleaned corn from fields to feed his livestock. I learned how to drive (age ten) in an old rig similar to this (an old Dodge) and outwitted my cousin Denny (we took turns driving the truck up the field to the next pickup point)by leaving the gearshift in high...he stalled it 100% of the time and grandpa said, 'Jim, you drive until Denny learns how.' Denny never did catch on.
Memories.
This one, in Cherry Valley, California, still runs!!

My first thought was Sanford and Son. It took me back to my childhood when I would stay the night at my grandpa Philpott's house. His favorite show at that time was Sanford and Son and Chico and The Man. I just remember he and my grandma laughing out loud at the silliness of the show. Good times!
JarieLyn, I thought about Sanford & Son too! Thank you for sharing that wonderful memory. Fred Sanford was quite a character :)
Drive out to the forest,
Let's go!
Up the hills, down the streamlets.
Bump bump
Thump off the road.
Hey man, we can't push up like that.
Let's leave it here,
Walk back to town.
My in-laws live out in the forest, and near their place is an old rusted truck, off the trail in a little ten foot drop-off. I always wonder how it got there.
Oh..well..this was the one I wanted. The old pickup..perfect for restoring. But..my ex he wanted the rusted out tow truck with the extra bed.
It sat in our yard for years ..then we dragged it across the country at huge expense so it could sit in our new yard for several more years. I let him keep this one when we divorced. Last I heard..it is still sitting there gathering rust.
