Thursdays The: Featured Post Winner

Congratulations to Sarah on the winning post.

The flock rose gently, one by one from the mirrored surface. Quiet on downy wings each avian rose to meet the morning glow.

The long line of birds descends on the salty water at dusk.

The monotony of the flat surface of the Salton Sea was broken by the appearance of graceful pelicans gliding line-abreast in a silent symphony of peace and tranquility as the sun dropped lower to the horizon...they were coming home to roost.

Reflective symmetry doubles the calming nature of the shot. Nature provides yet another soothing glimpse of harmony.

The birds land silently
on the glassy
water, gliding like beautiful
spiders. Except spiders
don't have companions.
The birds, they weave a web
of beauty among them.

In their perfect, rapturous
graceful form, they
call attention not with
songs or colors
but with the way
they echo the sunset,
all landing one at a time
until they sink into the
horizon, as if they
were part of it to begin with.

the silent sound
echoes among the ripples
on the mirror-like surface
of blue and white
and
each silhouetted figure
glides gracefully
to create musical rhythm
in the still waters
with
wings outstretched
they dance in line
perfectly symmetrical
dotting the chords
of natures' song
