Congratulations to Dani for her winning description:
I picked up that
little
petroleum car
and began at the
first
boxed-in word
Awaited my turn-
sat so very still-
and listened-
while the
small
engine purred
With the spin
of the wheel
like the roll
of a dice
I began in
that game they
called Life
I found a degree
after a
road-trip
through school
and partnered
myself
with a wife
Then I took a
detour
that filled my
back seat
with two tiny
pegs of blue
The narrow
road curved
and I parked
by my house
with an enormous
front porch
which seats two
We now wait
once again-
parked along
this bright path-
for that
ominous spin
of the wheel
It's that game
we all play
that game we call
Life
that feels
just a bit
too surreal

Half made decisions tease the brain
as Life spins us around carelessly
pushing the unsettled to jump
towards possibly absent arms.

A board, some cards, dice.
Simple yet complicated.
Spinning, victory waits.
Choosing a career
is much less complicated
when it's for a game.
