Thursdays The: Featured Post Winner

Congratulations to Dani on the winning post.

The night was fresh and young, even though the sun had long rested beneath the horizon. This meant near to nothing for the people here among the endless electric lights. It was time for parties and leisure. It was time for margaritas and laughter.

She stood in the clean white room awaiting the other guests soon to arrive with their flowing short black skirts with deep neck lines, their up-swept tendrils and laugh lines. But tonight wasn't about them. She was the bride-to-be, after all.

To surprise them all, she had her friend bring Avon samples and she was going to strip each woman of all their masks of perfection, their painted smiles and fake eyelashes, their carefully applied bronzer and concealer. All would be washed away.

Then they would share with each other their womanly secrets, their supposed flaws and their insecurities. She would place each before a mirror to behold their worst selves, stripped of their everyday lies. Tonight she would show them none of it mattered.

Because, after all, they're all women, and they're all beautiful, and that's what tonight was all about.
