Thursdays The: Featured Post Winner

Congratulations Dani on the winning contribution.

The sea was always her favorite place. She sits on the deck now, wrapped in the quilt her mother gave her for her wedding long ago, watching as the sky faintly changes shades. The universe is a beautiful place and as she is close to leaving it, she doesn't feel as though it is really goodbye. Somehow as it gets closer, day by day, she is feeling closer to the world then ever before, like she is becoming part of it. Her soul is at peace and she sits comfortably, watching the waves roll in and out and the sky fade from pink to white like her sight fading from the colors she knows to the unknown.

The endless waves roll in
Vast and remote
No one will ever notice
A little sewage, a little oil.

The endless waves roll in
Brown and full of sludge
Dead birds and fish
Wash onto the beach.

It is too much for tears.

First Kiss

They met on-line...
Two souls whose spouses had died...

They exchanged 100s of e-mails...
Never intending to be more that friends...

But it happened!
Love from West Coast to East.

He finally visited...
to see if love was true.

He met her and her dad...
Dangers past...

Regular folk...
Two hearts: one beach...

And a first kiss.
