Mondays Meme: Featured Post Winner

Congrats, Don, for your winning contribution. Thanks for sharing, guys! :)

I was a senior in high school when an acquaintance took advantage of a Free Speech Day in American Government to give share a gospel verse and a short message. Don Powell, who I had known as being fairly cowardly, bravely spoke from the Bible verse... Behold, I stand at the door and knock. And if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come it to him, and sup with him, and he with me.

Don went on to say the Jesus was alive and wanted to be my fried. He said that Jesus was waiting for me to issue an invitation... a simple prayer.

Class ended, but before my next class began... I offered up a simple little prayer... and... He... came... in!

The year? 1971. The year I discovered that Jesus is the Friend of sinners and the Transformer of lives.

(If God could change Don Powell, then he could change Don Evans. Woohoo!)

Oh. What a strange experience, scrolling down my Blogger reading list, and suddenly seeing my own picture pop up like that... Knowing that I had not published it just recently. I recognized the church before I noted what site it was on. So for a second or two I wondered: "But... What..." until the connection clicked. (LOL)

So yes, I have memories ;) I was outside that church taking photos as late as Saturday this past weekend; but then that door was closed. I know, because I again took a photo of this door, but this time closed. A photo which I have not yet posted! So that's double reason why this thumbnail picture took me by surprise.

I think it was two years ago that I last went inside, one day when the door was open. Coming in from the bright light outside, it was so dark in there that I had very little idea what I was taking photos of. But I did take some flash photos. Not until I was back home, getting the photos up on the computer screen, could I see the details.

Now this reminds me of two things:

One: Some doos are not always open. We have to find them at the right moment.

Two: Sometimes we do not see clearly until in retrospect.
