Fridays Poetry: Featured Post Winner

Congratulations to septembermom for her winning contribution:

Braids bouncing in air
that girl of play awakened
to find nature's bounty
in that family of feathers.

No greater treasure
would hold her eyes
as she whispered
her vow to protect.

Joy filled her cheeks
as she skipped to Mama
declaring with pride
her delicate discovery.

Soft, little, brown mallards
Snuggling together on
The dusty ground.
Wait for Mama,
She'll take you for a swim.

Small and tiny,
Lives so fragile,
Take love and grow,
And at our next hello,
Coats so shiny,
Wings so agile.

balls of fluff with
little gray beaks
peep
peep
peep
cuddle together
snuggle for warmth
peep
peep
peep
a little chubby hand
outstretched and reaching
scatter them away
waddle, waddle, waddle
peep
peep
peep

septembermom, I am unable to add your entry onto the poll at the sidebar to be voted upon. Apparently, once a vote has been made - we aren't allowed to edit it whatsoever. I just wanted to let you know that this was the reason your name doesn't appear on the poll. BUT-it does not keep us (Heather, Dani or Elizabeth) from reading it :) - it just doesn't allow for anyone else to vote on it.

I wish that there was a better voting/poll thingy available but I haven't found one yet.

That's o.k. Heather! I just love having the chance to write and add a little something to this wonderful site!

Dusty twigs under
Downy chests.
Browns blended into
Sepia tints.

Soft piping calls
For absent mother,
Fall silent under the
Shadow of a predator.

A mingling of mallard chicks
Dozing in the heat.
