Mondays Meme: Featured Post Winner

Congratulations to Dani for her winning contribution:

I remember the first time I saw a spider and truly appreciated its beauty instead of either screaming and running, or grossing out. It seems the closer you get, the more beautiful they are. And what they can do- amazing! It defies all, that they can create something so intricate and beautiful, yet so strong - from something within themselves.

I've been to the ocean only four times in my life, to four very different beaches. Each was the same, though, in the smell and spray of the water, and the sky stretching out endlessly across the waves. I felt limitless, yet humbled.

I spent many years of my youth on a wonderful farm in middle Tennessee. The joy of waking early and walking out the the barn, visiting critters and spying garden spiders stays with me still. I loved it there! It makes me smile even today 35 years later!

There used to be a beck, a small stream that fed a river, at the bottom of the road where I spent the middle years of my childhood.

My brother and I would spend happy hours "fishing" for tiny creatures, which we would examine, then return to the water. We never knew what they all were. It wasn't important.

Then one day, men came with pipes big enough to sit in. They encased our stream, and shunted it away.

More men came, with diggers and cemnt trucks. They broutht iron and bricks, mixed mortar and built.

A housing estate grew where once water had flowed. and shrubs and wild flowers had bloomed.
