Fridays Poetry: Featured Post Winner

Congratulations to Scriptor Senex for the winning post this week, to accompany his sweet little photo:

Such a small and silly thing -
One tiny keepsake
From their wedding;
And a single moment
From a single day
Becomes a lifetime of flowery memory.

The ball is over but still the silver slipper waits.
Soon the prince will come, to use the slipper as a clue to find his enchanting Cinderella.
Until then, the slipper is content to drowse and dream, and keep fresh the spray of flowers which drifted down from Cindi's hair as she fled the ball a few seconds before midnight.

token of love
shiny and delicate
holds to its heart
the withered blooms
from the night...

pinned to her dress
stained with her tears
and putting off the perfume
that once made her heart
soar

dreams of
what was
and might have been
now kept safe
in the silver dainty sole

Heather for luck - hope she doesn't need it.

Silver slipper for whimsy - hope he appreciates it.

Interlocked now, their future entwined.

Health, happiness and good fortune symbolically betokened.

delicate and fragile
hope ventures into the world
full of love and truth.

I know that it is not much
But to remind you of my gentle touch
I ask that you place it just so
Every morning when you go
My love for you will remain
My princess, my darling, Jane
