Congratulations, Dani...you've won me with this one. And Scriptor...I'm not all too adventurous either, of course, you knew that of me already :)
I'm sure if someone were to watch me at that moment they would have seen my eyes light up brighter in the excitement of seeing the beautiful feathered creature land on the earth before me. It was the closest I had ever been to one of these beady-eyed creatures. How I longed to stretch out my hand and stroke it's beautiful feathers. How soft they must be! But the creature gazed at me in such cautious curiosity, I didn't want to move a muscle for fear it would break the spell and the moment would end with the sound of fluttering wings. So I sat quietly, gazing back into those shiny black eyes and we seemed to connect in that instant. My heart wondered at how it would be to fly through the sky so blue and touch the clouds with my wings. Her heart wondered at how I could live my life among so many others and still feel so alone... Then, with a little hop, she was gone and I found myself counting my blessings.

Desert land greets robins
Not in spring but in autumn.
Come spring, fly to north.
Growing up as a city girl, I didn't often get the chance to see a variety of birds. The occasional pigeon or two would cross my path as I walked to school. Now as I raise my children in the beautiful Hudson Valley of New York, I'm so happy when a gentle feathered friend comes to call on my deck. I can feel how my soul has a moment or two of communion with these graceful messengers of nature.
Ironic to think that the two legged anthropoid behind the camera has never been outside the British Isles. Me, I've just flown over from Russia via Scandinavia. I'll be going back there in a few weeks. He'll still be sat in his garden! Not very adventurous is he!
