Fridays Poetry: Featured Post Winner

Congratulations Don on your winning contribution.

To the garden I've returned...

Behind the gate,
behind the wall,
beneath the flower tree,
I rest.

I've been beyond
the gate and wall.
I've been in
the chaos and the swell.

But now I've returned
to order and beauty,
to calm and quiet.

Here, I'll re-create and rest,
until I venture forth
again.

Beyond the gate, the world beckons. With her hand on the top rail, she hesitates, breathes in the cool flower-scented air. Could anywhere be more beautiful than here in England, now that spring had come? Smiling, she turned and returned to the bench under the trees from which she could watch the world pass by, content with the world and her place in it,

Far across the field
Love does wait on greener ground
There I cannot go

I've walked by
this place
time
and time again
The sun
through the trees
and the grass
lush and green

It pulls me forward
oh so strongly-
But the gate is
always
locked

I've often
wondered
time
and time again
who loves
and cares for
this place like
heav'n on earth
