Let's pretend that this picture is an album cover (remember those days when we collected albums?), and I invite you to think of a song title to go along with the picture. Are you ready to play along and be a songwriter for a minute or two? Album titles are welcome too :)
I can't wait to see the song titles for this one! (Does he look guilty to you? LOL)
Congratulations Robyn on the winning song title. I'm singing the tune in my head right now :) So is cookie monster interrogating Burt? LOL.

Congratulations Radhika on the winning contribution.
the plane descended slowly over the city and bright lights made it look like magic was afoot. streams of traffic snaked along and clusters of yellow and rows of white and twinkles of chaos. and the plane lowered and lowered and the city became grubbier and the lights became a singe row of runway markers. and the reflection on the wingtip outside my window of fuzzy yellow sparkles was all that was left of the intoxication of a city looked at from far away.

Wonderful contribution!!! :) Loved it! It was posted Anonymously, so no link, but thanks for sharing your wonderful writing! :)
you weren't my horizon
you weren't my rolling seas
or my still shore-
you were'nt anything that moved.
and i -
who loved to dance-
flung my arms around you
and left
whilst you clamped your roots
tunneling slowly
deep into my heart
and held on.
i see you standing
still
when i come in
from high tide.
one day, perhaps
i will sit in your shade
and press my aching feet
against your bark
and tell you
what i brought back-
for you
alone.

Since there were no contributions, I thought I would at least say something for the benefit of this lovely photograph. My own memory isn't about a duck, but a rooster. The way this duck is standing in the snow reminded me of a rooster my family had while I was growing up. One year the rooster got stuck up on a perch on top of the chicken house. It was cold weather and so my dad eventually went up to get the rooster down. When he set him on the cold ground, the rooster couldn't walk because it's legs and feet were frozen in the perch position still. It was a sad sight but rather hilarious to see the creature hobble around like that. :) I hope this duck isn't quite so cold.

Hmmmmm a vice it certainly was. Calling to her all those sweet treats. She passed it once on her way to the office supply store. Back to school items needed to be purchased. But on the return..and she did have to walk right by it again...the treats called out to her..her children begged for a bitsy treat. So she stopped and bought them ice creams..and even treated herself to a little tiny treat. Because...seriously..if you never treat yourself...ever...life just isn't as sweet.

I wasn't sure that this was the right place. I replayed what he had told me in my head. He hadn't said that it was just a one-story building. He'd said that there were balconies on the upper windows and a Chinese-looking thing on the window to the right. I looked up at the building again and sighed. This must be the right place. I got an urgent feeling, though, that this was the wrong place for me to be right now.

The Rescue
My friend, the giant chameleon turtle, clung to the tree,
while I peered through the
wooden eye of the needle.
The cabin we were about to
assault was in clear view.
It was time to act!

Surrounded by foreign air
Homesick-
serving my country,
but too young to understand
what that meant in all its heavy.
I had to ring at least ten, eleven numbers
just to try to find your voice.
Sequence for proper phone function
differed in each country
and I never could keep them straight
Pockets stuffed with random calling cards
bearing information I could not translate
The time between pressing over others’ dirty fingerprints
and some sort of ringing connection
was always just long enough to make me
almost give up hope.

Congratulations to Dani on the winning post.
The night was fresh and young, even though the sun had long rested beneath the horizon. This meant near to nothing for the people here among the endless electric lights. It was time for parties and leisure. It was time for margaritas and laughter.
She stood in the clean white room awaiting the other guests soon to arrive with their flowing short black skirts with deep neck lines, their up-swept tendrils and laugh lines. But tonight wasn't about them. She was the bride-to-be, after all.
To surprise them all, she had her friend bring Avon samples and she was going to strip each woman of all their masks of perfection, their painted smiles and fake eyelashes, their carefully applied bronzer and concealer. All would be washed away.
Then they would share with each other their womanly secrets, their supposed flaws and their insecurities. She would place each before a mirror to behold their worst selves, stripped of their everyday lies. Tonight she would show them none of it mattered.
Because, after all, they're all women, and they're all beautiful, and that's what tonight was all about.

The assortment was
strange
to my

I know
the lemon on the left
and those
are onion rings
...but what's that?
a monster?
Is that
a claw?
Am I
supposed to
...gulp
eat it?

I love what this beautiful photo brought from each of you!! Scriptor's words are from memory as is the theme for this day; therefor, I shall award his words as the featured post BUT because I thought the other two should be heard....I shall share those as well, below :)
Thoughts to warm my heart :
Strangely enough this instantly evoked memories of somewhere that hardly resembles it at all. The only likeness is that I saw a church through the trees. I was on a hill in Shropshire, England, and below me nestled a town with spires and towers. The day was warm and sunny, the view just perfect and I thought to myself how wonderful a combination was a tree and a church. Nature and God - all one needs in life. ~Scriptor Senex

As the rays of the setting sun gilded the dome on the cathedral, the knight reined in his horse. The journey back from the Holy Land had been long and grueling, but now he was nearly home. Both he and the horse craved warmth, food, a decent bed. Wearily he turned the horse down the slope and they jogged onward. Home at last -- the home he thought he'd never see again, and the wife and infant son he'd been forced to leave behind. ~Canadian Chickadee
Letting those black thickets stand in my way would be the worst kind of travesty. Where I'm going, those thorny branches will be behind me, but to get there, I must walk through them. And maybe the valley just beyond has more. But I follow that dim light and scan the horizon for a steeple perforating the sky, and I kick down the needles attacking my legs, and I pray to God that I'm heading in the right direction. ~Kate

Congratulations to Janie for her winning words. I could almost taste the chocolate with your description, Janie :)
I don't think there are many women who do not love the taste of chocolate. It has a way of making ones cares slip silently away if only for a brief moment, leaving you in an intoxicated state of bliss.
Much like a good bottle of wine, a quality chocolate has a way of enveloping one in even a deeper sense. My first experience with such chocolate was shortly after my divorce. My days were busy with work, school and giving adequate time to my kids. It was late in the evening or possibly early in the morning I was not sure. I arose as I could not sleep as usual.
I had purchased them a couple days earlier. A small gold box filled with 4 small chocolates, yet not just any chocolates. These were said to be some of the best chocolates one could buy. I had treated myself to them, something I had not done since I was young. I felt I needed to do something for myself, something nice. I pulled them from the hiding place in the fridge behind the velvetta cheese in the dairy box and opened them.
They stared up at me inviting me to taste. This was not the first time I had gazed upon them, but it would be the first time I finally succumbed to their temptation. I gently took the chocolate out of the box and slowly placed it to my lips. Its rich aroma was luscious. As I took the first bite I could feel the wonderfully rich chocolate taste run down my throat. I was experiencing a chocolate high.
I carefully placed the box back in its hiding place and made my way back to bed. As I snuggled myself under the covers, the taste still lingered in my mouth. I had found my tiny escape from the woes of my world. I had found it in a tiny piece of chocolate.
