Thursdays The: Featured Post Winner
Congratulations Xandersmom78 on your terrific contribution.
The cross sits between the trees, on its own; but it has so much to it, in my mind. My mind lets the cross join all the military crosses that all stand in a row. The single cross doesn't have much to it, but it brings to mind the many hours in a day and the hard work sown and sweated over by the roughened hands of fellow Americans.

Mondays Meme: Featured Post Winner

It was a few years ago, before we moved back to Florida. I was out in the van with my three kids, running errands, trying to check things off my seemingly endless "to-do" list. Then we saw the rainbow. It appeared instantly and we were all entranced. It was so bright, so vivid. In a second, I set aside my plans to make who-knows-how-many-more stops and told the kids that we were going to find the end of the rainbow. We lived in rural PA at the time, so there were endless farm roads -- I let the kids direct the turns. "Go right, here, Mommy." "Now straight" -- we probably drove for 15 or 20 minutes, chasing the elusive rainbow's end. We finally ended up in an area right by the Susquehanna River, the rainbow still out of reach on the other side of the wide river. We sat there and talked, and laughed and watched until the rainbow vanished. I don't remember exactly what I meant to do on that day, or which errands were set aside. But I know my kids still remember the day that mommy let them chase a rainbow.
